What’s New

Computer imaging can be used during your pre-operative consultation to facilitate the exchange of ideas and to ensure that our surgeons and patients have a shared vision. Computer imaging allows the surgeon to look at the face as a whole and achieve a look that is natural and appealing.

Additionally, some of our patients choosing rhinoplasty will benefit from chin augmentation in addition to nose surgery to achieve better balance of facial features. Through chin augmentation, our surgeons can strengthen the appearance of the chin by increasing its projection and strengthening the jaw line. The procedure does not affect your bite or dental work. The most common approach requires the insertion of an implant through a small incision underneath your chin.

The CSANY Difference

At our practice, we strive to give each patient a unique experience. When performing rhinoplasty, we understand that there is no one standard of an ideal nose. This is why we work with you and listen to your cosmetic concerns to create a nose that suits your face. The goal is to achieve a balanced look, and one that also retains your culture or heritage.

Procedure Overview

Rhinoplasty is performed either as an “open” or “closed” surgery, based on the incisions a surgeon uses.

Closed Rhinoplasty: Because this technique uses incisions that are made strictly inside of the nose, no visible scarring occurs following the procedure. This method is particularly helpful for those who require less extensive correction. This method is typically used for our primary rhinoplasty patients requiring minimal refinement of their nasal tip in New York. Our surgeons can address the size, shape (in addition to the tip), nostrils, bridge and other areas of the nose with this approach.

Open Rhinoplasty: Used for patients who require more complex correction or who are undergoing a secondary rhinoplasty procedure, the open technique uses an incision placed across the columella (the bridge between the nostrils) along with incisions inside the nose as well. The placement of the incisions will enable our highly skilled rhinoplasty surgeons to pull back the tissue on the outer part of the nose and access the inner structure. Any scarring resulting from the initial outer incision will become nearly invisible over time and the aesthetic changes to your new nose will be permanent.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take to see the final result?

The final result of nose surgery may sometimes take months after your procedure. Swelling and bruising will be apparent for the first few weeks, but even after most swelling has subsided and bruising has dissipated, subtle changes will continue to occur for up to a year.

Are there age restrictions on rhinoplasty?

In general, males and females should wait until they are at least around age 16 before considering this procedure. The reason for this is that the body may not be finished developing and growing. It is important to wait until the nasal bones have fully developed before having surgery.

What other procedures can be performed with a rhinoplasty?

Nose surgery can be performed with other facial treatments including BOTOX® Cosmetic and injectable fillers to help rejuvenate and refresh your appearance. Other facial plastic surgery procedures can be performed at the same time as well if needed.
