What’s New

Combining cosmetic procedures offers a number of advantages. Only one recovery period is needed, and you save on operating room and anesthesia costs compared to having the procedures performed at different times. A mommy makeover typically includes a breast lift with or without augmentation, along with a tummy tuck and liposuction. Our 4 locations serve women from Westchester to White Plains, NY, so we’ve performed many combinations of procedures. Your options also could include other body contouring procedures or even facial rejuvenation. We will help you find a combination that safely addresses all your cosmetic concerns.

The CSANY Difference

We understand the personal nature of your decision to get cosmetic surgery. Our surgeons have performed hundreds of cosmetic breast surgeries and tummy tucks. That experience gives them insight into what will work best for each patient. At your consultation, a comprehensive physical assessment guides the surgeon’s treatment plan, along with your stated cosmetic goals. For example, our surgeons can help determine whether a breast lift alone will get the results you want, or if inserting breast implants will yield better results.

Procedure Overview

Because a mommy makeover combines different procedures, it’s important that a detailed surgical plan is created prior to the operation. In most mommy makeovers, the following procedures are commonly incorporated:

  • Tummy tuck: This procedure reduces loose skin and excess fat around the abdomen and strengthens abdominal muscles for a smooth contour and a deep improvement.
  • Liposuction: This versatile procedure uses a long, thin tube to remove localized areas of unwanted fat all around the body.
  • Breast lift: If your breasts have begun to sag after pregnancy and breastfeeding, a breast lift can restore them to their original perkier position.
  • Breast augmentation: This surgery adds volume and shape to the breasts through the use of long-lasting silicone or saline implants.

You may also add other body or face procedures to suit your precise needs. For example, we can reduce the appearance of stretch marks with minimally invasive Morpheus8 treatments. A mommy makeover generally takes between 3 and 4 hours to complete and is performed while you are under general anesthesia.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe to combine surgical procedures in a single operation?

Yes. Our plastic surgeons at Cosmetic Surgery Associates of New York are some of the most experienced and highly trained in the area. Your doctor performs a thorough physical evaluation before recommending you for a mommy makeover to ensure you are ready for the operation and recovery.

How long should I wait after childbirth to have a mommy makeover?

The answer really depends on how quickly your body recuperates following pregnancy. Patient safety is the top priority of our board-certified plastic surgeons, so it’s important that your weight has stabilized to a level you will be able to maintain. If you’re breastfeeding, then you should wait at least 2 to 3 months after stopping. If you aren’t breastfeeding, most women take about 4 to 5 months for their bodies to be ready for surgery. On the other end of the spectrum, mothers with grown children who have long wanted to restore their bodies and their confidence can also get this transformative procedure.

How long is the recovery period after a mommy makeover?

Because you are combining multiple procedures, expect your recovery to take longer than if you had the operations separately. Of course, the advantage is having only a single recovery. In the first 2 weeks you should limit your activity to short walks, which are very important to the healing process. Lifting is prohibited, so make sure you have help with your children. Activity gradually increases after the initial 10 to 14 days. Plan on taking at least 2 weeks off work.
