Age Spot Removal in Westchester County

Age spots, sunspots, liver spots…whatever you call them, those brown, gray and sometimes black spots that appear on your skin are strong indicators that your skin is not as young as it used to be. While the cause of these spots is not known definitively, it is strongly linked to aging and UV light exposure. They most commonly form on the face, shoulders, hands and arms where you are most likely to have sun exposure.

Your risk for age spots is heightened if you have fair skin, are middle-aged or older, or regularly tan either outdoors or in a tanning bed. While sunscreen and staying out of the sun during peak hours will help you prevent future age spots, these measures will not enable you to get rid of the age spots you already have. Fortunately, CSNY Medi-Spa offers two great procedures that serve to diminish your age and sun spots:

Photofacial IPL Therapy

The standard in age spot solutions is this intense pulsed light (IPL) laser treatment. The light from photofacial lasers goes beneath the skin and takes aim at the cells that produce melanin. This heat destroys the overactive cells and pushes the pigmentation to the skin’s surface. Later, this pigmentation will flake off to display evenly toned, refreshed-looking skin beneath.

The treatment is suitable for most parts of the body where age spots are known to form. It is not recommended for people with darker complexions or tans since the lasers can make your skin even darker.

Most patients will receive around four treatments, each one spaced out about a month apart, to achieve the best results. Although you may find the procedure momentarily uncomfortable, most people would not describe it as painful. It will take a few months before the full results of the treatment show on your skin.

Photofacial IPL therapy also treats other skin imperfections like redness, spider veins, hyperpigmentation, freckles and rosacea.

Fraxel

Uncover your youth. Fraxel is a popular laser treatment that penetrates deep beneath the skin to stimulate collagen production and heal and rejuvenate skin. It is the first non-ablative fractional laser treatment of its kind to address sun damage, discoloration, acne scars, fine lines, stretch marks and textural irregularities.

Fraxel DUAL 1550/1927 treatment resurfaces your skin stimulating the growth of new, healthy skin sells from the inside out. Unlike other laser procedures, Fraxel intentionally targets only a small portion of the tissue. That allows the remaining surrounding tissue to better heal the treated tissue for improved, accelerated results. No matter what your age is, Fraxel laser treatment can uncover your youthful skin buried within.

Most patients will choose to have multiple sessions performed to maximize the results. While results will start to show about a week after your first treatment, you can expect better results to gradually appear in the coming months as collagen production continues to amplify.

In addition to age spots and sun damage, Fraxel is also successful at treating scars, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and actinic keratosis.
