What's New

Previously, patients suffering from hyperhidrosis resorted to hiding the condition by changing clothes often, frequently applying antiperspirant throughout the day, or trying topical treatments with unpredictable results. The physicians of CSANY offer effective treatment of excessive underarm sweating with a laser system called PrecisionTx®. This minimally invasive option uses the power of directed laser energy to disrupt overactive sweat glands, effectively reducing sweating where it starts instead of merely disguising it.

The CSANY Difference

Our surgeons and staff understand that excessive sweating is more than just a cosmetic problem. It can affect many facets of a person's life, from the type of clothing he or she wears to hobbies, social activities, and relationships. Our doctors treat each patient with the care and sensitivity he or she deserves.

Although hyperhidrosis treatment with PrecisionTx is a medical treatment, many patients return to undergo skin tightening with the same laser system. If you desire skin rejuvenation or any other type of aesthetic enhancement in addition to your treatment for excessive sweating, our doctors can help you determine what's right for you.

Procedure Overview

Treatment for excessive sweating at our Westchester County-based practice requires only local anesthesia. Your surgeon makes a small incision in your armpit. Though this incision, he directs a very thin tube with a laser connected to its end. He directs the laser to the area beneath the skin where sweat glands are located. The laser disrupts the function of these sweat glands for a permanent reduction in the amount of sweat produced. This procedure takes about an hour to complete, and a single treatment is all that's required for permanent results.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the procedure feel like?

We use local anesthesia, so the procedure is not painful. Patients typically report a sensation of pressure or warmth as the laser works. The PrecisionTx device has a temperature-regulating feature called ThermaGuide™ to ensure the laser maintains an effective temperature that doesn't harm surrounding tissues.

When will I be able to get back to my usual activities?

Because treatment requires only local anesthesia, most patients can get back to their regular activities the following day. Some soreness after the procedure is normal but shouldn't inhibit you from most normal activities. Your surgeon will explain any potential activity restrictions prior to your procedure.

What kind of results can I expect?

PrecisionTx reduces underarm sweat by about 90%, which means that patients are able to use regular-strength antiperspirants with satisfactory results. Typically, a single treatment is all that's required for optimal results, although, very rarely, some patients may require a second treatment. The results of hyperhidrosis treatment with PrecisionTx are permanent.
