What's New

Silicone breast implant technology is continually being improved to enhance safety and provide results that look and feel more natural. For our patients who choose silicone implants, our surgeons use only safe, high quality, FDA-approved silicone gel implants. We offer both those that contain highly cohesive silicone gel and the latest implants made with form-stable silicone gel. These popular new implants come in an assortment of shapes, profiles and sizes, and are commonly called "gummy bear implants" because of their similarity in texture to the soft but solid candy.

The CSANY Difference

At CSANY, our surgeons have performed breast augmentation for hundreds of women. Thanks to our extensive experience, we know what it takes to give our patients the customized, natural-looking results they request. We're proud to offer our patients the latest options in implants, from high-tech materials to thoughtfully designed shapes and projections. Not only do today's implants look great, but they also last longer than previous models for attractive, healthy results you can enjoy year after year.

Our surgeons understand how each potential option can influence your surgical outcome. They work with you, carefully reviewing each detail to ensure you get the precise look you want.

Implant Material

Our patients have the option of saline or silicone breast implants. Each type offers its own advantages and disadvantages.

  • Saline breast implants are rolled up, inserted through a small incision and filled with a harmless saltwater solution after they are placed inside the breasts. Saline implants are more affordable than silicone implants. The downside of saline implants is they may wrinkle, ripple, and feel firmer than natural breast tissue.
  • Silicone breast implants are available for women who are at least 22 years old. This implant type provides results that look and feel more like natural breasts than saline-filled implants. Patients often describe them as feeling soft and doughy. Silicone implants are more expensive than saline implants.

Implant Size

Although the question of size is mainly a matter of personal preference, it's important to consider your natural anatomy and proportions when choosing a size. Most women want results that look natural, so it's important to select a size that complements your curves.

We often recommend patients bring in photos of women who have breasts that are what they'd like to achieve, either from our photo gallery or elsewhere. Our surgeons can walk you through your options to help you understand what size is likely to work for you and your body.

Implant Shape

Implants can be either round or teardrop-shaped, which are also called "anatomical" implants. Many women choose round implants because they add volume to both the upper and lower portions of the breast for a voluminous result with enhanced cleavage. On the other hand, teardrop implants mimic the shape of natural breasts, with a tapered shape and a bit more volume toward the bottom. These are ideal for women in search of more subtle results.

Implant Profile

The term implant "profile" describes the degree to which the implant projects from the chest compared with how wide it is at the base. Finding the right option for you helps to increase fullness proportionally around all areas of your breasts. However, the profile that is appropriate for you largely depends on your body type and chest width. Your surgeon can examine your body and help you understand which profile option is best for you.

Implant Texture

This refers to the surface of the implant, which can be either smooth or textured. Smooth implants move around more freely within the breast pocket. Textured implants have a very finely rough surface that look a bit like frosted glass. This texture helps breast tissue adhere to the implant surface and hold it in place.

Teardrop implants are textured to help them stay properly oriented within the breasts. Round implants can be either smooth or textured. There is some evidence that textured implants minimize the risk of certain complications, but each patient is different. During your consultation, you and your surgeon more thoroughly examine the differences in texture to ensure you make the right choice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I choose silicone or saline implants?

This decision is a highly personal one, and one that should be discussed with your surgeon during your consultation. Saline implants are available for women age 18 and older, while women who want silicone gel breast implants must be at least 22. While there are benefits to both types of breast implants, more and more women are choosing silicone gel implants due to a more natural look and feel.

I want a dramatic transformation. What are my options?

Our surgeons are happy to offer options that are both safe and long-lasting for patients who want to "wow" with their results. If you're in search of a significant increase in size and full, voluptuous breasts, round implants are likely the best option. Other options, such as projection and precise size, are quite subjective. The right options for you depend on your unique anatomy, goals, and even your lifestyle. During your consultation, expect to spend a good amount of time discussing your envisioned outcome with your surgeon.

What can I do to ensure the most discreet scars?

Although scarring is an important consideration for any plastic surgery patient, you can rest assured breast augmentation incisions are typically made within the natural contours of the body to ensure minimal visible scarring. The most popular option, called the inframammary incision, is made where the bottom of the breast meets the chest. This thin incision heals to a flat, faded scar that stays hidden under all types of clothing and most swimwear. Regardless of the incision you choose, you can minimize excessive scarring by following your surgeon's instructions for caring for yourself after surgery. Avoiding excessive sun exposure and keeping your incisions clean and dry ensure proper healing. Although a number of topical scar reduction products are available at the drugstore, be sure to consult with your surgeon before using any of them.
